Brief description: We will visit three historic building that are most representative of the Dominicans and their influence on Oaxaca
Schedule: We will begin our walking journey at 3:00 pm from San Pablo where we will visit the chapel of the Rosary (la capilla del Rosario) and the cloister. Then we will head towards the Cathedral and as we walk along Independencia, your guide will offer a commentary about the seminary, the Bishop's building and once inside the Cathedral, we will focus on Saint Rose of Lima (Santa Rosa de Lima), the first American saint.

Then at 3:45, we will proceed along Alcalá Stret to the Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena (now the Quinta Real Hotel) where we will talk about the Colonial Epoch and the Reformation.

The objective of the missionaries who came to Mexico, following on the heels of the conquistadors, was to convert the entire population to Christianity.

Finally, at 4:15, we will visit the Santo Domingo church, one of the grandest and most beautiful of Mexico's temples. There we will talk about the Order of the Preachers with the help of the carvings, drawings, and iconography in the building. During the visit to the chapel of the Rosary (la capilla del Rosario), we will talk about the rosary, the most ancient prayer in the church (it consists of 150 "Hail Marys" and after every tenth "Hail Mary," the Lord's Prayer).

We end our visit with the Dominican Monastery that hosts the golden treasure of tomb number 7 of Monte Albán and the Francisco de Burgoa Library.
