GUELAGUETZA 2020

The Guelaguetza Events focus on two Mondays every year in July. We expect thousands of people to travel to Oaxaca to participate, to support the participants, and to just enjoy the dancing. It is one of the major fiestas in Oaxaca and one that shouldn't be missed

We invite you to join us for one of the "Mondays on the Hill" and experience Oaxaca the way you should!

July 18 to 21
(First Monday — July 20)



Saturday July 18:
— Arrive to Oaxaca

— brief orientation about Oaxaca city and the activities going on during these days.

— Information about cultural activities around Guelaguetza; Mezcal Fair, The Princess Donají etc.

— In the afternoon we will watch the parade of the different delegations (participating municipalities) that they will participate in Guelaguetza.


Sunday July 19:
— Tour Monte Albán, a World Heritage Archaeological Site. We will visit Tomb#7, the north platform, the building of the dancers, building J and the ballcourt.

— In the afternoon,we will visit the Carmen Alto Church, linking it and others to the Mondays on the Hill. We will continue with a visit to the Belber Museum to get to know the important Oaxacan textiles We will then walk towars the neighborhood of La Soledad, where we will visit and talk about the history of this beautiful temple.
250 pesos per person, shared service

Monday July 20:
— we will visit the building know as San Pablo. It was initially a Dominican house but is known today for its Textile museum. While there, we will talk about fibers and weavings (huipiles, shawls, girdles etc.) while we look at the exhibits in the museum.

July 25 to 28
(Second Monday — July 27)



Saturday July 25:
—Arrive to Oaxaca
—Brief orientation about Oaxaca city and the activities going on during these days.
—In the afternoon, attend a parade of the dancers from different regions.

Sunday July 26:
—10 a.m. Visit the Mitla archeological site, the Tlacolula Market, the tule tree and a mezcal factory.
350 pesos per person, shared service

—4:30 p.m. a Guelaguetza history tour including the fountain of the Eight Regions, Carmen Alto church, and the Church of the Soledad. Included are discussions about these structures and their connection to Guelaguetza.
300 pesos per person, shared service


Monday July 27:
—Guelaguetza show in the morning.
—In the afternoon "Benito Juárez" and "20 de Noviembre" markets, Plaza de Cortés and San Juan de Dios church.
200 pesos per person, shared service


Tuesday July 28 :
— Departure (Transport to the airport or other facilities)
